2009

2009 was a year of extreme growth and change. Several new members officially joined the organization establishing a solid staff of dedicated organizers. The name of the show was officially changed to the Portland Retro Gaming Expo and a new venue was selected closer to downtown Portland. The Crowne Plaza in Portland's Lloyd District provided the right combination of floorspace and accessibility that the expo needed for growth.

Since we were still testing the waters at our new downtown venue, the show was reduced to one day - Sunday, September 20, 2009. Fortunately the new venue was a hit and the Expo enjoyed over 800 gamers through the doors. We introduced several new features to the show in 2009 including a costume contest, live musical performer and a live auction of classic video game collectibles.
