PRGE 2021 postponed

The Doctor is in

So here we are again. Because it's not clear if a large public event will be possible this year due to the continued uncertainties associated with the Coronavirus pandemic, we must announce that the 2021 Portland Retro Gaming Expo is postponed until 2022.

  • We are a 100% non-profit, volunteer-run organization and do not have the resources to accomodate pandemic-related changes to our existing show management process.
  • Recruiting enough volunteers to staff the event is a challenge due to anxiety over the pandemic.
  • Many of our arcade and pinball game partners are justifiably unable to volunteer games due to anxiety over the pandemic.
  • There is public apprehension about being in crowded spaces and it's not clear that this concern will be reduced by August. Even a moderate reduction in attendance would put our event at financial risk for the future.

The Covid vaccines are rolling out to more and more Americans and it is our hope that things will stabilize by late 2021 allowing us to plan for a great comeback event in 2022. Until then, please stay safe and healthy!

Will you have an event in 2022?

Yes, it is our intention to have an event sometime between August and October of 2022. We are currently working with the Oregon Convention Center to find a weekend that works for all parties. As soon as we know anything, we will share the details with you.

I'm an exhibitor. What does this mean for me?

Exhibitors who have already paid for their booth in 2020 and rolled over to 2021 will be offered the option to either receive a full refund or to apply their booth fees to the 2022 event. You will receive an email from the volunteer coordinator with details.

Is the Classic Tetris World Championship also cancelled?

While we will not be able to accomodate the CTWC at our event this year, they're still looking for ways to continue their event. Watch the CTWC web site for details as they emerge.

As always, thank you for your support!

We love all of you for the incredible support we have received over the years. Please stay safe and healthy and we will work to be ready for you in 2022!
