The ideas developed during the session will form the foundation of a Gamers Bill of Rights intended to support future consumer and preservation advocacy.

Shadow Snare: Returning to the C64 After Forty-Three Years

Announced at the end of 1983’s Maze Master, Shadow Snare never appeared; the project instead evolved into The Bard’s Tale. Forty-three years later, Michael Cranford has returned to fulfill that promise with a new role-playing game written natively for the Commodore 64. Players inhabit a single hero, gather companions, and explore living villages, forgotten strongholds, and puzzle-built dungeons. Its Eight Ways spell system lets you draw upon abilities traditionally divided among character classes - including those of the Bard - against a final confrontation with darkness. Cranford will demonstrate the current playtest build and invite interested players to help shape the game toward its planned 2027 release. Contribute something to the game!
